At a junior high school, many of the older girls were starting to experiment with makeup and lipstick. A problem arose when several of the young ladies would put on the lipstick, then practice their kissing techniques on the bathroom mirrors. A problem arose when several of the young ladies would put on the lipstick, then practice their kissing techniques on the bathroom mirrors. This caused the janitor a great deal of time and frustration cleaning the mirrors several times a day. Finally he went to the principal and expressed his concerns.
The principal called a large group of the girls wearing lipstick into her office and escorted them to the bathroom. She calmly explained what she knew about the situation, and how the behavior was causing the janitor so much extra time each day when he could be tending to other duties. When she concluded she called the janitor in and told the girls to observe the time involved in cleaning off the lipstick. The janitor picked up his squeegee, dipped it in the nearest toilet and began cleaning the mirror. The lip marks were never a problem again. Some people teach, others educate. less...
